About

Author / Illustrator / Optimist

Michele Ziemke won the hearts of her students for over 25 years with hugs and engaging art activities. As an educational visionary, Michele was recently recognized for her integral role in the creation of the Great Lakes Performing and Visual Arts Academy, of which the new Student Art Gallery was named in her honor. Retired from teaching, Michele brings that same passion to her heartfelt and humorous picture books. Among her many talents are tailoring, interior design, theater, and crocheting. She can also meow like a tiny kitten and is never shy about performing upon request. When stressed, eats chocolate covered nuts.

Michele earned her Bachelor of Education/Visual Art K-12 and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Bowling Green State University.

A busy grandma of thirteen grandchildren, Michele resides with her husband and fluffy labradoodle. You can find her in Northern Ohio or Manitoulin Island in Canada, but it’s easier just to reach her at ziemkeart@gmail.com.
